Vulnerability Assessment & Management Services

Service overview

Protect what matters with Vulnerability Assessment & Management Services

A vulnerability assessment is a systematic review that identifies, classifies and prioritises security weaknesses across your servers, endpoints, applications, cloud and network devices. Aesparrow’s vulnerability assessment services combine authenticated scanning with expert manual validation, so you get a clean, de-duplicated list of real risks ranked by CVSS score, exploitability and business impact — not a 400-page scanner export.

For organisations that need more than a point-in-time snapshot, our vulnerability management service runs continuous vulnerability scanning, tracks remediation SLAs, prioritises issues listed in the CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalogue, and reports progress monthly. It is the fastest way to shrink your attack surface between annual penetration tests.

Vulnerability Assessment & Management Services by Aesparrow Consulting

Vulnerability Assessment & Management Services — done right, the first time.

Senior practitioners. Verified findings. Free re-test.

Vulnerability assessment vs penetration testing

A vulnerability assessment answers “what weaknesses do we have?” — it is broad, largely automated and repeatable. A penetration test answers “what could an attacker actually do?” — it is deep, manual and proves impact by exploiting issues. Most organisations need both: frequent vulnerability scanning for coverage and periodic penetration testing for depth. Together they form VAPT.

What our vulnerability assessment covers

  • Network & infrastructure — servers, workstations, firewalls, routers and switches
  • Web applications — DAST scanning with manual confirmation of OWASP Top 10 issues
  • Cloud configuration — AWS, Azure and GCP misconfiguration and exposure review
  • Operating systems — Windows and Linux patch level and CIS Benchmark hardening
  • Databases & middleware — default credentials, outdated versions, weak encryption
  • Open-source dependencies — vulnerable libraries found through software composition analysis

Why Aesparrow

Why teams choose Aesparrow for vulnerability management

  • 1

    Validated findings

Every high and critical issue is manually verified to remove false positives.

  • 2

    Risk-based prioritisation

CVSS, exploit availability and asset criticality combined into one clear priority.

  • 3

    Remediation tracking

Owners, SLAs and re-verification so vulnerabilities actually get closed.

  • 4

    Audit-ready evidence

Reports mapped to ISO 27001 Annex A 8.8, PCI DSS 11.3 and SOC 2.

Start with a one-off vulnerability assessment to baseline your exposure, then move to managed, continuous vulnerability management with monthly reporting. Talk to us about a scope that fits your asset count and compliance requirements.

What is a vulnerability assessment?

A vulnerability assessment is a structured process to find, classify and prioritise security weaknesses in IT systems. It uses authenticated scanners and expert review to produce a ranked list of issues with remediation guidance, usually scored with CVSS.

How often should vulnerability scanning be done?

At least quarterly, and continuously for internet-facing systems. PCI DSS requires internal and external vulnerability scans at least once every three months and after significant changes. High-risk environments benefit from weekly or continuous scanning.

Why is vulnerability scanning not enough on its own?

Scanners find known issues but miss business-logic flaws, chained attacks and access-control problems, and they produce false positives. A penetration test validates what is truly exploitable. That is why a vulnerability assessment is paired with penetration testing in VAPT.

How do you prioritise vulnerabilities?

We combine the CVSS base score with real-world exploitability (for example, presence in the CISA KEV catalogue or public exploit code), the exposure of the asset and its business criticality, so critical internet-facing issues are fixed first.

What is included in a vulnerability assessment report?

An executive summary, asset inventory, a de-duplicated list of findings with CVSS scores and CVE/CWE references, evidence, remediation steps, and trend metrics for repeat assessments.
