Establishing the organizational boundaries
Identifying GHG sources and sinks
Quantifying GHG emissions and removals
Setting GHG inventory quality management systems
Reporting GHG inventory results
The world is growing and environmental impact is also increasing. It is necessary to measure and manage carbon emissions of the organization. ISO 14064 is an international standard that provides organizations with a framework to quantify, monitor, report and verify their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. This standard is used by organizations to measure and report their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. It becomes easier to track progress, stay accountable and take action against climate change.
Structure of ISO 14064
ISO 14064 is divided into three parts, each addressing different aspects of GHG management:
Purpose: This part focuses on the principles and requirements for designing, developing, managing, and reporting organization-level GHG inventories.
Establishing the organizational boundaries
Identifying GHG sources and sinks
Quantifying GHG emissions and removals
Setting GHG inventory quality management systems
Reporting GHG inventory results
Purpose: This part provides guidelines for projects specifically aimed at reducing GHG emissions or enhancing GHG removals.
Defining project boundaries
Quantifying GHG emission reductions or removal enhancements
Establishing baselines and determining additionality
Monitoring and reporting project performance
Purpose: This part sets out the process for validating and verifying GHG assertions to ensure the accuracy, consistency, transparency, and credibility of GHG data and reports.
Planning and conducting validations and verifications
Managing GHG data and documentation
Assessing GHG assertions and providing assurance
To establish a clear framework and achieve carbon reduction targets.
Credible GHG reporting through accurate and transparent greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions data.
Improves operational and cost efficiency by identifying emission sources and reducing resource waste.
Facilitates participation in carbon offset programs and sustainability initiatives.
Positions the company as a responsible, environmentally conscious leader.
Aligns with international climate policies and carbon reduction commitments.
